This place holds a lot of history for a lot of people. I saw several shows here in the 90's and early 00's. It could get very hot inside and it had the token pole right in the middle of the sightline of the stage.

This was the place where Kurt met Courtney (or at least saw her for the first time, I've read different accounts).

A couple days after I took the 2011 photos they had the whole front barricaded off.

These are known as "Benson Bubblers".

This is outside a hair salon that still is around. I can't remember if they saw us taking the 3:03 photo above and came out and asked what we were doing. Regardless, I ended up getting a few photos of the staff. It was closed for lunch when I went by there recently and I forgot to go back and see if any of these folks still worked there.

The cone is a nice addition.

I never even really noticed the building was missing until I took this photo. I couldn't get closer because there was a car in the way.

No more phonebooth! It took me longer than expected to find this location. Eventually I started looking for the right turn lane near a pole, then found some old rebar in the ground.

Right next to where that phone booth used to be. That building is gone now.

No more parking meters but you can see where they used to be.

The guy eating in the doorway wondered what we were doing and became Mr. 3:19pm

This place was the Cobalt Lounge when I took this photo in 2001. I only ever saw two shows there. Grant Hart + M. Ward and...Corey Feldman (long story).

On the MAX Tracks.

My mom, sister and I rode these tracks in 1988 when we were visiting Portland and went downtown to go scope out the Tandy 1000 SX computer we eventually bought. (7.16mhz!)

Interesting to see how much thicker that tree on the right has became.

Yes, there are indeed "Skate Routes" here in town.

Right near Ground Kontrol Classic Arcade, although I'm pretty sure it was still up on 12th when the 2001 photo was taken.
